01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

One of the pleasures of Mozujiro’s tsukemen is choosing the style of broth: chicken, seafood or shrimp salt. Diners have described the rich soup as easy to enjoy without feeling too heavy, making it an option whether you want a thoroughly satisfying bowl or something you can comfortably finish. One diner found the chicken tsukemen lighter than expected, while another enjoyed the pronounced chicken flavour of the special chicken tsukemen. The special is listed at 1,200 yen. A reported order came with a seasoned egg, spring onions and chashu, with more chashu and menma in the dipping broth—an appealing choice if you want toppings as well as noodles.

For seafood, the special seafood tsukemen (1,250 yen) has a rich broth drawing on the savoury flavours of bonito, mackerel and dried sardines. The menu lists shrimp-salt tsukemen at 1,000 yen, or 1,250 yen for the special, and describes its soup as concentrated with shrimp flavour. The distinct broths make it easy to try something different next time, even if you have already had the chicken version. If you’d rather change the texture and style altogether, there is also abura soba with thick noodles. The menu lists it as limited to 10 servings at 750 yen. A diner praised the chewy noodles and generous bite, finding it a good choice when in the mood for something heartier than tsukemen. Choose it for a more substantial noodle dish, or tsukemen when you want to alternate between noodles and broth.

Beyond tsukemen, the menu includes Chinese-style ramen and rich ramen, along with sides such as gyoza, fried chicken and a chashu rice bowl. One diner said the soy-based soup of the Chinese-style ramen clung well to the noodles. The menu gives you room to make a meal of the noodles at lunch or add a side for dinner. Dining in is available at the restaurant in Yamanouchi, Sumiyoshi-ku, Osaka, and it is described as suitable for solo diners. Start by choosing a tsukemen broth, or switch to abura soba or Chinese-style ramen to suit your appetite and mood.
